Is EPF interest tax-free?

Yes, EPF interest is tax-free provided the employee contribution does not exceed ₹2.5 Lakhs per financial year. Withdrawals after 5 years of continuous service are also completely tax-exempt.

Can I contribute more than 12% to Provident Fund?

Yes, you can opt for Voluntary Provident Fund (VPF) to contribute up to 100% of your basic salary. VPF earns the exact same sovereign interest rate as EPF.
